All Gone! I have seen a couple DIY shaving brushes using the Olivewood handles from Jeruselem sold on eBay and noticed a lot of interest posted in those threads from other members. After gaining permission from the TSD moderators and contacting the seller of these brush handles I decided to attempt a group buy here on TSD. The brush is 60mm tall and the knot hole is 25mm in diameter by 22mm deep. These are the premium grade with the most visible grain and coloring available. Photo Credit goes to @Bobcat (Please let me know if you want this removed!) Photo Credit to @HolyRo llah How it works: 1. These brush handles sell for $12.95+$6.95 S&H on eBay. I have talked to the seller and if enough people sign up to purchase a handle (or a few) we can drive this price down to $16 (potentially $15 based on number ordered) shipped to your door. 2. This would work by having all the brush handles shipped to one location in the US as a single package and then having someone (me) turn around and send the brushes to each of the members who signed up to purchase brush handles. 3. Below will be a sign up list and I will add your username and number of brush handles desired to the list as people sign up. Once we reach our goal we will collect payment via PayPal and place the order with the seller. Deciding if I want a Silvertip or another Boar as I prefer to Head lather. I have read Silvertip is floppy. Yeah! Now I just gotta pout the money away for a Silvertip knot.
Errrr...uhhhh...ummmmmmmm... yeah I'm in! I have concerns with wooden handles and the fact that when I shave, I tend to get water everywhere. Those are beautiful handles though!
There are a bunch o threads on building a brush from these great handles. I ended up sanding the hole larger to deep set a Silvertip. I also lightly sanded the handle and sprayed it with a waterproof mat lacquer. No worries about water or floppyness. Mine is a Jerusalem Olive Wood/WD Silvertip 24/48 and is in my top 2 next to my Whipped Dog 30/45 Silvertip. Y'all will love it.
A good coating of sealer and/or Renaissance wax should alleviate most concerns on potential water exposure and damage.
I have put four brushes together with this handle over the past 2.5 years and all four took 26mm knots, so 24-26 should be able to work.
