July 1, 1867 three territorial counties were unified into one country, Canada. It was still part of the British empire, but it was an official country.

 

I have always thought that it is the equivalent to our 4th of July.

 

Ah yes--ok. Now, I understand. I'm not too much of a Canadian, am I! :happy102
