I have returned to DE shaving after an absence of about 40 years. The electric razors (after buying two different ones) did not give me a good shave and the multi-blade razors clogged up too easily and were expensive. The disposables were even worse. All of them irritated my face. So, a few months ago, I unearthed my old Gillette and my father's Super Speed and bought a pack of Wilkinson's Sword blades at my local store, along with a VDH shaving kit also at my local store. The first shaves were not perfect but still better than what I was currently obtaining. I went on the web to find out if there was any information on wet shaving. An unbelievable amount of information was to be found! I lurked on several forums and found a lot of good people and good information. My father and my grandfathers each only used 1 brush, 1 shaving soap, 1 razor, 1 brand of blades and 1 brand of aftershave. Not the correct style for the modern shaver. So I quickly amassed several razors, a mound of samples of soaps and creams, aftershaves and blade sample packs. I am slowly finding out what works for me and the process has been, to my surprise, a lot of fun. Hope to continue to have fun and also enjoy the feel of a good, close shave and a face that feels good all day.
