Hey all! Just got back into wet shaving after many years away. Like most my age ( 62 ) we usually started out with DE razors and then got sucked into the ease of using all sorts of disposables. Was shopping at Target with the wife a couple of weeks ago and saw the Van der Hagen setup pretty cheap and thought I would give it a try. Wow, what a nice, close shave! I know it's not the best setup but still, quite nice and actually an enjoyable process. Just ordered a blade sampler selection and looking forward to trying some blades besides what came with the razor. Been surfing around looking for some ideas on soaps, brushes, AS, etc to improve my overall experience but really enjoying it so far! Gotta say just getting away from expensive disposable blades is a step up and the whole lathering process ( instead of canned garbage ) is almost a sensual experience!! ; ) Looking forward to learning more and acquiring some vintage equipment. Thanks for perusing my post!

Yes welcome to the Den. There are some great folks here with a lot of experience, and friendly help. I started with that same setup about 1 yr ago, and still use it.
Awesome pic Slipperyjoe! I'm from the great Midwest and have been infatuated with tall ships since I was a kid. Even won an art contest in grade school doing a chalk drawing of the USS Constitution. Every couple of years they have the Tall Ship festival on Lake Michigan and it is incredible! Do you live on the coast?
