Hi all! I've been wet shaving for close to a year now and most of this time I've been lurking, so I finally signed up and jumped in. Looking forward to learning even more as I've even started watching for vintage razors when cruising the "antique mall" with the wife.
Glad you jumped in @The Sandman ! I can't imagine a years worth of unasked questions. You must be good with a search box. Tell us about your gear? Favorite soap/brush/razor/aftershave? Poking around in dusty corners of antique & thrift store, and especially flea markets has kitted me with lots of great vintage gear. Hope you get the good stuff!
Welcome! I lurked before joining as well, of course, joining helped my ADs, lol. What are your go-to items?
Welcome Sandman! The Shave Den is one of the best shaving forums on the net in my opinion. Lot of helpful people that will help you with any questions or advive.
Thanks for the warm welcome! I can't say my Google-fu is strong but I've picked up a lot from reading a bunch. . I guess I was like a lot of guys, hated shaving due to ingrown hairs and breaking out from using cartridges. One day I saw the VDH TTO at Wally World and figured, what the heck, can't be worse. After trying a Maggard 3 piece and Omega boar brush for awhile, I am now using a Merkur 37c and Maggard synthetic (which I really love). Various soaps, including Proraso, Cella and enjoying the post shave feel of The Fat. I did recently score a GEM jr, Tech ball and Gillette adjustable (not a fat boy I think) in second hand shops here. Just user condition, but they are working their way into rotation. Edited to add AS, I have been using Clubman Pinaud and their bay rum, as well as Lucky Tiger tonic.
That sounds like a great setup, and it will work to perfection. There are some enablers on here that can introduce you to fancier items if you wish, however, lol
LOL Between all my hobbies (shaving, guitar, photography and shooting) I don't think I can afford any more enabling. For the moment.
