Hello everyone, Recently discovered a love for the classic wet shave. Just today I received my first Shavette razor. A Focus R21. I’ve read some good reviews about it so I pulled the trigger. However, after opening the box I noticed that mine did not come with the black plastic insert that I’ve seen in so many photos and videos online. Instead it came with a steel insert( see photo) I’m wondering does anybody know if this was a design change or is the black insert an optional piece or did someone forget to put it in the box. This steel blade holder has no corner guards ..makes this shavette intimidating for a beginner. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Antz Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Welcome and I’m pretty sure that one doesn’t come with one you just put a half blade or break a DE blade in half and put it on there
Hello and welcome. I have 2 Focus R21 razors. They both have the plastic insert. The top one has "Focus" embossed on the scales. The bottom is electro engraved as shown. Sorry about the other razors shown, it is an old photo. You may have a counterfeit. May I ask where you obtained it?
@Edison Carter thank you so much for the information. I purchased the razor from fedrihan.ca After more digging I found my answer . The R21 comes in 2 versions : The R21 that I have : stainless steel insert The R21 Evolution: plastic insert This confirmed by Focus So there is no problem with the order.. to TSD @Antz I hope you enjoy it here. I'm not a shavette used myself, prefer DE/SE, but it seems from what I read on the Fendrihan site that you have the newer design. I hope you enjoy using it.
@ 178-bplatoon I think so to .. even the focus website has the stainless steel version showing . The evolution’s insert with the corner guards was a selling point for me being a beginner. Other than that the one I have seems really nicely made. I was not aware that a stainless steel blade holder version existed. You could look at thesuperiorshave.com I got my stuff there. He sent a replacement insert with each. As low as 14usd. I think he ships to Canada.
