Lurked here a bit. Signed up so I can see the photo's! (and enjoy your good company too....of course). Member of a few other forums, so probably will know some of you already. Wet shaved for 50+ years. Currently using a Gillette Tech, RR Mamba, (and a RR Game Changer on the way now from Italian Barber). Had all sorts...Gillette 1961 Fatboy Executive, 1931 NEW LC (nice...loved it), Flat Bottom Tech, Rocket HD, Super Speed (1968?), and a few more I've forgotten over the years. Looking forward to 'meeting' other members on here.
Welcome @DiggaDog to TSD. Glad you joined us and brought your experience with you. From your list it seems like you've worked your way through what many of us consider Vintage razors on into Modern gear. This is your own personal thread so feel free to ask questions. I've got one for you - got a favorite set up; soap, brush, & post shave product?
OK, brushes used Muhle synthetic (just recently 'retired' it), Yaqui Tuxedo synthetic (very, very nice and my go-to brush), Men-U (absolute rubbish. Nasty horrible thing shaped like a brush). Favourite razor...was the NEW LC I sold but now the Mamba (but the GC may change that when it arrives). Favourite soap is easy (and it's no longer made)...Figgy Puddin, and I have just 1 tub left. Others are Cella, RR Black Bay. Both RR Tuscan Oud, and Antiga Barbearia Ribeira Porto get an honourable mention too. I sold all my vintage except for the Tech. It's my work razor (I'm 71 and a tanker driver, still working part-time doing 2 day long haul trips carting truck and trailer of cider or wine!). I shave daily as one must always look neat and tidy (well, it helps that I'm ex NZ Regular Army, and ex NZ Fire Service. No whisker stubble allowed!). Decided to go with all stainless razors now for the ease of care needed. But...I did love the NEW LC. It was a refurb/replate I bought in from USA. Yeah, maybe I should have kept that one. Sold it to an Aussie member of another forum I'm in. No post shave normally. A touch of Nivea Balm if I want to feel spiffy. Favourite blades are Feather, Gillette (Russian, St.Petersburg variety only) GSB, Nacet, Rubie, 7-O-Clock yellow/green/black. Polsiver (brown). Hate Derby, and those terrible blunt things called Bolzano Superinoz. Oh, and many thanks for the 'welcomes' folks.
Thanks @Edison Carter for the laugh. But yeah, it is tricky. If the lather is too wet it gets up my nose.
