    Currently my shave set up is using my grandfather's old razor, which I believe is a Gillete. Trufitt and Hill Grafton shaving cream and a horse hair brush

    Welcome to TSD @drnausheerp. Glad you joined us. If you have any question feel free to ask right here in your own personal thread. Plenty of friendly folks will offer opinions, advice, even actual information.
    A Legacy razor? Very nice! There are a couple ways to tell when it was made. Under the base plate there may be a date code - a letter on one side of the handle & a number on the other side. Others have one or more patent numbers. Upload a photo and one of our members might know all the information.

    Gillette recycled the capital letters, and didn't make the Black Beauty in 1948. So that makes it a First Quarter (January, February, or March) of 1973. Forty eight and a half years old.

    There's an article HERE about the date codes. I've misplaced a chart I saved from the B&B website.
