Great forum here guys. I've been learning a lot. I started out in the mid 1970's with a Shick single blade injector razor. Quickly went to single blade cartridge razors, then double blade cartridge razors. Then, for the last 15 years or so, various Norelco electric razors. Recently got the feeling that I wanted to try a single blade (DE) wet shave again. Got a lot of good information from this forum. Currently using an EJ DE89 and a 1959 super speed. Still working through my 50 count sample pack. Using various creams in a can, favorite being Noxema for sensitive skin in the red can. Looking forward to learning more and possibly asking a few questions. Carl from MO.
Strange you should mention that. My next question is indeed about brushes. But First, I have to search the threads, my question might have already been asked and answered by somebody else.
Hi! You want to know about brushes? Check this out http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/the-brush-basic-information-everyone-should-know.29125/
You guys are awesome. I just stepped outside to check the fluids in my truck and came back in the cool AC. (It's hot and humid in St. louis today. Typical July). Already have some helpful posts. Thanks guys.
Welcome, from Texas. Great to hear you are coming back around to DE razors. Cartridges and electric razors never agreed with me.
Aah, Texas. Love the land, love the history and the people. I lived in Cleburne and Fort Worth for five years. That was in the late 1980's. It's a bit warm there, but hey, it's Texas. I learned to eat chili with no beans and grew to appreciate a good pair of Justin Walkers.
Welcome aboard! Hot and humid in STL? Why, over on the St. Charles side it's a beautiful Spring day. 72 and beautiful. NOT!!!! Finally another fellow sufferer in the St. Louis heat! Feel free to ask anything you want of this group. Nobody is going to be offended if we've answered it before. This is the friendliest and best bunch of shaving enthusiasts anywhere! Check out the 30 Day Focus thread and let us know how we can help! And by the way.....that '59 Super Speed? Great choice of a vintage. My birth year razor as well.
St. Charles! No kidding? That's great! I have been looking mostly on line for shaving supplies. Is there any place near us that has a storefront with traditional shaving supplies? Walgreens, Target, Walmart, and Schnucks have a few items, but not much.
Unfortunately no. I've done the pharmacy and grocery store search as well and we seem to be in a dead zone. I'm almost exclusively an online purchaser. Ebay is one of my hot bookmarks, but also tryablade.com for blades to try along with a few other sites. There are a couple of online sellers from this area though. www.saintcharlesshave.com is a local soap maker and www.shavetools .com has brushes and other items. You can also find shavetools as a seller on ebay.
