Howdy folks... I saw in my registration PM that I should come here, post and tell a little about myself. I have been around a few different forums lurking trying to find out about wet shaving. I currently have a total ZERO equipment or products. I have been watching ebay auctions and internet stores looking for a good deal, as I do not want to sink in a lot of money from the get go (but I see from those of you with RAD that might be inevitable)... The reason I was looking at wet shaving is that I hate to shave... It isn't the act but more of the outcome. I was in the Navy back in the early 90s and during bootcamp they required us to use the crappy blue Bic disposable razors. Every morning my neck looked like bloody mess. Well after a few months of that my neck and face have never been the same. I get some serious razor burn every time and I am tired of it... So I did some research and see that many have found relief in wetshaving. Well, that is my story in a nutshell. Not sure if this will help but I am willing to give it the ole college try. I look forward to any suggestions on good deals and technique. NOTE: I have watch all of the videos on YouTube and they are awesome. Not sure if the author is on these boards, but if you know him tell him thanks.
Welcome! Sounds like a typical scenario and quite the same that made me come here. Surf around on this forum, ask what you need to ask and get yourself some good gear. I'm sure someone can give you a good example of gear to start out with. Enjoy!
Well, as I was reading some of the other post I saw that Craigslist might be a good place to look and I found this... http://kansascity.craigslist.org/clo/1008449129.html I emailed the owner and they would take less than what they are asking. Not sure if this is a good deal or not but it wasn't much money. As for DE razors. I have bid on a few "Fat Boy" and one of them ends tonight. Not sure what is a good price on them so if you have a round about number that would help... Thanks...
Welcome to the site. I too hated shaving until I found all the wonderful products. Shaving is a joy now.
I bought a SS from Zook last night... Can't wait for the first shave... I will wetshave for the first time with weekend, but I doubt I will have the DE by then.
I had my first wetshave today and it was glorious... It has to be the first shave since bootcamp that my neck was not burning. I did two pass WTG and that was it, but man it was slick and lathery (is that a word?) and so sweet smelling. Now I only used my old Schick cartridge razor but it is the best yet... I used Nomad shaving cream and a C&E travel brush. Man, I am actually looking forward to shaving tomorrow morning...
