Greetings everyone, I'm new here and to the wet shave as well. I joined this group to help get me started making the transition from shaving with a cartridge razor and shaving cream from an aerosol can to the wet shave. I'm sure I'll get a lot of great advice and help here, and I hope to help others as I become more experienced with the wet shave. See you folks around the forums.
Hi, everyone. Thanks for all the replies and warm welcomes. I really appreciate that. Thanks for the link to the newbie give away, RaZorBurn123!
Thank you, Jasman. On another note here, being a noob to the wet shave scene, I'm not 100% sure on some of the terminology, so I'll have some questions for clarification along the way here. My first question is what is the difference between shaving soap and shaving cream? Is it just that soap comes in solid form—either in a dish/bowl of some sort or in stick form—and that cream comes in a tube? I ask because I started a thread in the shaving soap sub forum, but I also mentioned Proraso shaving cream; however, I'm not sure if I used the correct terminology in my post. Thanks.
There is also very soft soaps (sometimes called croaps) that are in between soaps and creams. The Italians make some excellent croaps.
Welcome @TheManWithNoName! I started with a tub of Van Der Hagan soap and a boar bristle brush and some sort of disposable 3 bladed razor. The face prep and lathering improved my shaving quite a bit. You'll be fine.
