Hi everyone! I'm Richard, living in Wales (UK) but originally from Yorkshire, England. I'm 54 and have had a full set (i.e. unshaved, only trimmed) ever since I left school. I've shaved it all off twice in my life, and had such grief from the woman in my life that I grew it all back straight away. I've recently made a couple of changes and started shaving - at the moment it's left as a tash and chin beard, but I could take it all off at any moment.

Anyway, brilliant site, which I found after looking up shaving-related topics in Wikipedia. Can I be cheeky and ask a question straight away? I remember my father shaving in the 1960s (before he went electric) using an Ever Ready wet razor with single-edge blades. I've found a few of the razors on eBay, and I thought I might get one and use it in memory of the old chap, but I can't seem to track down any blades. I can't remember seeing any on sale here in the UK for a long time, and an hour of Googling has only turned up generic single-edge blades (which might or might not fit) from US suppliers. Will any brand of single-edge blades fit an Ever Ready, and does anyone know of any UK or European suppliers?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Now to explore the site, and a Happy New Year to you all.

    Welcome to the DEN.

SSLStudio is a Euro Supplier of blades. While i shave with straights instead of DE's, i dont recall hearing of Ever Ready blades. Hope someone can chime in and help you out

Thanks for the welcome. I'm not sure if Ever Ready made their own blades, but Wiki mentions Treet as being a manufacturer who has caried on making similar blades. Thanks for the pointer to a Euro supplier. I may just have to get some and see how it goes.

    Welcome Richard,
I can't help you out with a European supplier but the Eveready razors do take the normal single edge blades. They are available here; just be careful and make sure you get ones that are manufactured for shaving. The ones from the hardware store will fit but are not suitable. Good luck. Enjoy your stay.

    Stop hijacking the thread :p

  12. Treet do make single edge blades & Gem (personna) blades are suitable.

Ever Ready do still make single edge blades but don't buy them. Most single edge blades in the UK are marked multipurpose / DIY blades; these are not shaving blades & only suitable for window scrapers etc.

    Regards,

    Paul

Richard Welcome, I have some great memories of Wales - I was involved in building of the Gas Turbine Power Plant in Swansea and took a holiday there with SWMBO. Visited Mumbles, Cardiff and all the castles in Southern Wales. Beautiful Place - are you from near there?

Wow, what a great welcome! Thanks all, and diolch yn fawr to those that understand it. I'll follow up the recommendations in due course.

As to denmason and seamus402, well I live in Pembrokeshire, just outside the County town of Haverfordwest. Swansea/Mumbles are about 60 miles away. As I said before, I am originally from Yorkshire, but I moved to Wales with work in 1990, married a local lass and look like staying. I have picked up enough Welsh to understand what denmason wrote, but only know enough to reply Blwyddyn Newydd Dda! A chi, or A Pob, I suppose (now I'm guessing). Y Fflint is a long way from here, but still closer than California.
