Help ID vintage brush

Can anyone ID this brush? Handle is bakelite and is inscribed "Made in England," and what looks like "R86" above it. Thanks.

Looks like an older Simpsons model.

Funny thing with the early responses I got on different boards:

You said Simpson's, I am told on SMF (not Gordon) that it is probably a Kent, and someone on B&B thinks it is a vintage Rooney!

Hopefully we can get to the bottom of this one!

Looks like a predecessor to the PJ handle... my estimated guess.

 

I'll go with Simpsons, maybe the label fell off.
