Found this Gillette open comb at a yard sale the other day. I hope someone can help me identify the model, and a possible age. Thx in advance.. DMJ.
It's a British Flat Bottom New most likely made in the 30's. I am sure that is not the technical answer and I am sure someone will be along with the correct information shortly.
Likely this. A #77 perhaps? If you use it, make sure that the bent tooth isn't pushing the blade up, or the cornered (?) cap isn't pushing the blade down. They are a great shave!
its a british new flat bottom /service razor, for the french market with that handle... similar to a 7oclock. available late 30s/40s
Thx guys.. I have not yet tried the razor, but the bend tooth is no problem, the blade is straight and fits perfectly.
The handle looks very much like a Single Ring though it is threaded at the top like the later models. Recycled parts?
the canadian regent had this handle only gold .handle design used for french market but nickel plated like Jon's pic earlier in post.the brits got this service set.french liked the oc..? or got the older stock..
Very similar to my Minora ..... One of my all time favorites that I'll be passing on (one day) to my kids. A pure pleasure of a shave.
hence the gillette minora blades sold here for years. ..handle look familiar..all from the 7 0clock razor co acquisition
