Hey guys I got a TTO from probably about late 50s I think it's a SS, the problem is it kind of sticks when your opening it, but it shaves fine. So I soaked it 3 times in hot soapy water overnight, did the scrubbing bubbles thing with toothbrush and it's still feel like it's going to break when you open and close it. I may have to dump it because when I was shaving somehow it opened a little and I cut the crap out of myself, first time in years. Any other ideas.
It sounds like it could be the corner point of one of the doors has been banged in a little bit and is catching on the end of the safety bar. Eyeball all four corners while trying to open and close to see if you notice a hitch anywhere. If you do, it's a really easy fix.
If.you have any sentimental attachment to the razor, Razor Emporium does tune ups that will fix any ills this razor has.
Hmmmmm, first time I hear of a TTO being made of Stainless steel.... was Stainless steel around in the 50's? I don't think that there have been a SS TTO introduced to the market at all
You could always disassemble it...it's REALLY easy. That way you can clean it better. I had a pre patent rocket with the same problem...insanely sticky when opening and closing...and not fully closing. What you do is open the doors, then grab the razor head in one hand, handle in the other and start turning it (can't remember which way...but it's not hard to tell if you are going the wrong way). This pretty much takes it apart. There you can do a deep clean and get all the crap out from inside the handle...on the threads. Then you reassemble it the opposite way you take it apart. I am 99% sure this will solve your issue. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
Here's a video...this guy makes it look really involved. Mine was a simple grip and twist with my hands...no tools needed. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
I tried it a while back but I'll give it another shot, if not I'll take it apart, if I can take a Harley apart and put it back together and it runs(that's the important part) then I can fix a razor. Ha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Can't say enough about how much you guys help out with info, the list would be long, you know who you are, one of the newbies ask me if this was a cool place, I said hell yeah like one of those cool neighborhood bars. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
