Well, this isn't new but I have been goofing around with my cheap camera attempting to take some decent razor photos. Anyway, this one is c. 1865 - 1875. AaronX of SRP and B&B fame cleaned and repinned it for me. I am guessing the horn scales were originally dyed to look like tortoise shell.
That's a very nice razor. Your photo looks to be overexposed. I'm no expert photographer but that's one of my issues as well.
Thanks! Yeah it is a looker, it is one of my favorites I think I don't know, I've spent two hours today trying to make it comply to the hone :happy102
Man I had a hard time sharpening this. It seemed like the coticule kept dulling the razor and I'd have to go back to a courser hone to sharpen. I think it is just a big heavy razor and was creating its own dulling slurry So I ended up skipping the cot and now she shaves, nicely too Sorry, it may be a piece of junk but it's my junk hahahahaha - Lee AKA CotiFool or HoneSheister or - well, you think of something PS when I finally get an old razor like this one honed and shaving, I often wax reminiscent. I wonder what stories this razor could tell: "I shaved Robert E Lee the night of his first date" or "I was sold by a one-legged cotton merchant to a bearded woman for 25 cents" It brought a smile to my face, anyway
