    Greetings all,

So just wanted to introduce myself, I'm a 40 year old businessman who used to spend close to $80 a month for razor blades to shave my head, that is sadly not going bald, which is probably the reason I spend so much on razor blades, and that’s even buying in bulk at Costco.

Anyway, just recently made the investment to buy myself a straight razor, with all the necessary accessories (You know, the badger brush, the bowl, the soap, the shave oils, strop etc) In the hopes that I can finally ditch my never ending drain on my wallet with buying razors all the time.

Let’s just say that it’s a slow process... lots of nicks, a shaving time of over an hour to get a clean shave that used to take me about 5 minutes, and yea... but I refuse to give up. If I can cut that time down to 20 minutes or half hour a day and save $80 a month in the process, I think it’s well worth it.

    So Hi all.

In time, you should be able to cut the time down to 30 minutes. However, as far as the economy of straight shaving goes, most of us end up spending far more on shaving stuff than we did before "going straight." I think you'll discover, at some point, that you've become afflicted with a dreaded AD (Acquisition Disorder) and are buying things that you don't really need. In my case, I've probably spent enough on straight razors, strops, hones, mugs, bowls, soaps, and creams to where I could have filled a large stadium with DE razor blades and cartridges for a lot less! :happy102

    Welcome!

I have to say you are a far braver man than I for jumping straight to straights from cartridges (I assume based on the $80 monthly cost). I went to DE's myself.

I'm currently AD free as a newbie.
