I recently made a stand for my brush out of copper wire that only cost about $1.50 and a safety razor stand from a piece of wood I had laying around. I am curious to see what other home made ideas are floating around. I still want to make something for my straight razor and shavette and need a little inspiration.
Veddy good. I make a lot of homemade stuff. Brushes, razor handles, stands, lids, boxes,... I gave up on brush stands years ago. I am of the persuasion that it is best to let the brush dry with the hairs up. Just towel dry the brush and stand it on end. That is why they make them with flat bottoms. Water evaporates up not down. I am retired, so this is what I do whenever I get the itch. I was making lids for my two new soaps today. I made this box yesterday. I had made the handle earlier for my Superior lather catcher. Here are some handles I made.
Here's a project I did not too long ago for my straight razors. A cigar box, felt, and Dollar Tree hair curler clips. More details here: https://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/making-a-proper-home-for-my-razors.61659/
Well that is a great idea. I have considered using a cigar box for the cool factor but hadn't come up with a good uniform way to isolate each razor. Nicely done.
Nice work! Wood turning is one of those things I always thought I'd like to try. But, there just isn't much of a way to "try" that without dropping some serious coin. So....I'll just admire the work of people like you that do it. Keep those WNC hills safe!!
I hear you. I was gifted my Duracraft (1983) lathe by the guy who bought my old house. He upgraded to a more modern lathe. I had to buy my turning tools but that got me into business so to speak. I am not in a business. This is strictly for my fun and pleasure.
A few years back I needed a cover for my de razors to protect them from dings and scratches (and to keep my bag from getting all cut up). I was really into making PVC bows at the time, so I figured why not make a couple of razor covers out of PVC: They work surprisingly well. The irony is now that I am almost exclusively a SE shaver, I need to make a couple more for my 1912 and MMOC--Christmas vacation project!
