Made this for lunch today: And the close up: I must admit, it was pretty awesome. The sauce was especially tasty. What you're looking at is steamed kale on one side, red rice on the other...then topped with blackeye peas (that have been simmered in liquid smoke & bay leaf), tomato vinegar salad and a sauce made of tahini, frank's red hot, nutritional yeast & water.
I made Hoppin John today too, after all you have to have blackeye peas on New Years Day. But your dish looks a lot better than mine did. Thanks for the recipe link, I printed it out and will try it.
I was going to take the leftovers to work for lunch today and my wife bogarted the whole thing! Guess I'll have to make another batch soon...
