I bought a horn bowl as a lathering bowl from a vendor, and it has started to 'delaminate'. I believe this is because I would use it to soak my brush in hot tap water while I was in the shower. If anyone uses a horn bowl, you might not want to do this.

    It should still hold up?

Dapper, nay. The delam is inside the bowl and will catch the hairs on the brush.

I've been thinking about trying a horn mixing bowl, but have held off because of the cost, so this is very good info to know for me... TY Billy

That sucks! Sorry to hear that. I'd think they maker would've used something that would withstand a little heat. Tapwater is not extraordinarily hot.

Could you reapply a coat on it?:

The horn is all natural, just shaped into a bowl. The natural layers are what had delam.

That happened to me with a bamboo bowl. You're right about it snagging bristles. PITA
