Basically how and why did you end up on The Shave Den?
For me I started straight razor shaving 12 months ago (came from electric cartridge rotation)!!!! and i was toying with the idea of DE's i didnt know if I wanted new or old one, So I did alot of looking on ebay at price's i saw Gillette ss, and also rockets, Its only when i did a google on rockets and found a thread called Gillette Rocket, The refined DE. posted by MTgrayling in 2008.
My reaction was wow what detailed info with so many informative pics, I then dug a little deeper on the forums reading more threads and postings.
Im a racket re-stringer by trade and used to sell tennis rackets. i considered myself more of an advisor ie what works for one may not work for another ie racket, strings or grip size/grip. And thats what i noticed on here, and could relate to so easy YMMV.

Im glad i joined I i've never been active on a forum type place before prob because im a bit dislexic so I tend not use so much as my postings tend to take a while.

so all in all thanks to everybody making the den what it is.:)

Me, I basically was looking for razor blades one day, saw they were going to be about 5 dollars a cartridge, and decided I had enough. Did a lot research, went to the different forums, while I found lots of information on all of them, I kept coming back to this one. So I decided to join up.

It's all my dad's fault. Southernscribbler got into this several months before I did and in an attempt to see what all the hype was about I got to researching and the next thing you know, I'm up to my neck. Never really had a hobby before now, so it's cool. And the clear fact that the shaves have gotten 100 fold better doesn't hurt either.

I have accounts at SRP and B&B but hardly ever go there. TSD is friendly and homey. I'm here more than anywhere else on the web, more than news, other forums, entertainment, anything.

Not to mention, the color scheme doesn't kill my eyes when I stare at it for hours trying to absorb information!

My two teenage sons reached the age of shaving, and both seemed to think that Fusion cartridges needed to be replaced after two or three shaves, so looking for a money saving answer I turned to the internet and found the shave forums, I chose to hang out at TSD because it just felt like a better fit for me.

Jump forward a couple of years, and after buying all the razors, creams, soaps and this that and the other things, I fully realize I've probably never saved one thin dime.

Which in the end matters nothing to me, because of the friendships I've made and the camaraderie we share here at TSD, are priceless to me.

I discovered "classic" shaving methods in early 2009 from a variety of Internet sources. I worked out a lot of things from just a couple of simple FAQs, and from practicing on my own. After lurking for a while, I joined another shaving forum in October of that year, an allusion there to the Shave Den Store led me to these forums a couple of months later.

I could have skipped the forums, and been getting decent shaves for the last two years with one DE razor, one brush, one soap or cream. Instead, I've discovered a hobby, and what good is a hobby if you can't talk about it with other people? The big variety of vintage razors is the main interest for me; I probably never would have learned about injector or SE razors if it hadn't been for other enthusiasts online, and I now prefer those to DEs. For a guy who claims to find soaps "not all that interesting", I've accumulated quite the assortment of those, too. And then, there's the collection of shaving mugs.

Sometimes I still step back, and am amazed that the subject of shaving has become this interesting to me, but there it is. It started with an innocent search for an Internet source for Atra cartridges. We don't always realize where we're going, but it can still be fun when we get there.

Well I asked to have my account banned at B&B in November of 2009 and moved here and SMF....

I spend most of my time here now, great people and I make new friends all the time.

I searched how to reduce some razor burn. I found a blog that I read and they referenced both TSD and B&B. I spent time on both but settled in here. I don't use B&B as much but still go one once a month probably...

Nothing to knock B&B but I feel like I like the lighter atmosphere here.

As dridecker said he probably aint saved a dime compared to cartridge's i sort of agree, because most the stuff we buy have good re-sale value thats one reason i like tryin new razors its really cost effective.
