OK, newbie here testing adding a photo. This was a $3.00 (AUD!) find in a charity shop. We call them Op Shops here down under. Not sure what it was, but it looked like some sort of shaving bowl, so I took a gamble. Works great! Like the undercut recess half way down, stops the lather from escaping too fast! Is there a best size for uploading pics? Why did my pic land up at the top of the post? Hmm... more reading... Also: might I ask, which is preferred on this forum: Thumbnail or Full Image? Thanks in advance! Chris Edited: Image removed
@ChrisB Nice! This site will tell you when the pic is too large. I always have to shrink mine. Pic is at the top for one of two reasons: 1) You posted the pic before you started typing B) That's where your cursor was when you loaded the file Thumbnail or full, your choice. Hope this helps.
Ok thank you! I will watch that cursor then. Will have to also try embedding a link to an online hosted site, should save some space here.
I always size my SOTD photos down to a width of 1024 pixels. That is plenty big for any image here. Larger image sizes load more slowly, especially on a phone.
Ahh that explains it, I have noticed some images take a while to load even on a PC with good internet. I will keep your tip of 1024 wide in mind. (Mind you some of pictures here are worth waiting for to download, thinking of some shots I have seen in the Shaving den threads, so sometimes bigger is better!)
another image test Easy enough to insert a link to a picture hosted somewhere else, but it looks clumsy https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lJ20IP4zoxoRhaPw_U-rE5oZYhtDrLt/view?usp=sharing How to name the link? and make it clickable, something like this. NewImage what does image with the red cross on it mean? I see this quite often in posts and cannot access the image.
Lots of image hosting give problems. Also internal to forums. I suggest www.imgur.com or use other forum that has it.
Yes, hosting the images off the forum saves storage space, but I don't like imgur, too much click bait there. I have figured out how to do what I want, am posting this here for a reminder. First, copy the link from wherever your images are hosted Second, type some text...eg "TestImagehere" see below. Then highlight/select the text Then click the Link button here: and paste the link...and click insert... Then the text colour changes to red to show it is an active link. TestImageHere should work fine.
