From time to time I've read of how some mix or use shaving cream and soap together. I'm curious. How does this exactly work? Do you begin with a cream and then make a second pass with soap or do you mix cream into the soap? Happy Thanksgiving to ALL!
1) Put a small amount of cream in a bowl 2) Load a damp brush with soap 3) Lather the loaded brush in the bowl with the cream so the soap and cream mix, adding water as required My typical finding is that unless you're using a real top end cream or soap, you'll get better lather than using either the cream or soap individually. So, using MWF in a superlather is a total waste of MWF for me. But, before I ran out of SCS Green Tea soap I found it worked great with TSD Mojito cream. Kiss My Face is a very popular cream in superlathers.
I like to get some Mama Bear soap onto the brush. I put a bean sized dollop of Speick in my cup along with a little water. Sometimes I add a few drops of pure glycerine. The result is a very respectable lather that will give at least 3 passes and some touch ups. I often do this in my mini electric crock pot which warms the lather nicely. Of course my wife saw this and started reciting the Witches scene from Hamlet. "Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn and cauldron bubble.
Or............ Rub some cream into your wet beard with your fingers and then load your brush with soap. Take the brush to your face and see what happens. Good stuff :eatdrink047
Yup. But here's a vid so you can see how it's done. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8N0C1cLELQo&feature=fvw
There are different mixes and all are not equal... Soap + cream = Superlather Soap + Cream + 5 drops of Gylcerin = Uberlather Here is a old thread I did on SRP about the way to put them together... http://www.straightrazorplace.com/forums/shaving/21367-illustrated-guide-making-uberlather.html Tons of questions asked and answered in there...
Thanks for the answers! I appreciate all the suggestions and comments made. No wonder why I keep going back to this site every day!!!!!!
