I try to dry my styptic pencil off with tissue before putting it back in the clear plastic tube and leave the lid off to allow moisture to evaporate. However the end end of my pencil still looks like a rotted Sith's finger after a week or so. Are there other styptic pencils out there beyond the stick in the clear tube?
I do what you do and just live with the fact the product is going to get used up; it is what it is. At least it doesn't smell like a rotted Sith's finger. I've never tried 'em, but West Coast Shaving carries single-use styptic matches. To be honest, I can get a lot more than 20 uses @ $2.75 + shipping by using a styptic pencil @ $1.20 + tax from ShopRite.
