Sorta rough day, we are getting ready for new carpets tomorrow morning and man it's a lot of work. Plus it's 90 degrees and our cats are tripping out, they don't do well with change.
Working the Rear Booth checking in trucks this morning. It's a beautiful day. Got both windows open so there's some nice cross ventilation. Downside is, I have CPR training inside from 1300 to 1600
Looking forward to a "celebration" of the life of a dear family friend who passed away a couple weeks ago. She "demanded" that her "service" be similar to a wedding reception(great food, band, dancing), and that's what she'll get tonight.
Sorry to hear about the loss of your dear friend. I remember my first funeral I attended back when I was 14, the viewing room we were in was somber, across the hall was a party! I was very intrigued about this party atmosphere, and I figured at that time that's the way i would want to be remembered. Here's to your friend!
I'm seriously bummed out. With change (new carpet and flooring) I discovered how much shaving gear I really had, it's rather sickening. My wife and I have been going through what I call " if you haven't used it in a year, you don't need it".... I threw out over 40 soaps, balms, and aftershaves. On the positive side of things my youngest son came over and took about 25 jars, tins of soap to take over to the local Mens Shelter. His idea, and a great one.
Thank you Kerry.....she and my mom were college buddies, and the friendship lasted until her death. It hit my Mom some, but at the same time she knew her friend was near the end-nothing you can do.
A while back, I reviewed a boxed set of books I bought as a gift for the hubby. As luck woud have it, the company I got it from has monthly prize drawings for people who write reviews on their site. I was unaware of this until today. Imagine my surprise when I got an e-mail from them today, telling me I won a $25 gift card. Always a good way to start a day.
Don't know how I missed this(shame on me) Yesterday was the 75th Aniversary of the Battle of the Coral Sea. The Empire of Japan was ascendant after taking Singapore, Java and parts of Indochina. IJN & IJA forces were threatening New Guinea which would if captured be a springboard for an invasion of Australia A combined US/Australian task force opposed this move, checking the effort. While a tactical victory for the IJN(the carrier USS Lexington was severely damaged and had to be scuttled and the USS Yorktown was damaged), it was a strategic victory for the Allies because it forced a postponement of the invasion of Port Moresby and two of the IJN's fleet carriers were so damaged that they could not participate in the Battle of Midway one month later giving the USN parity. This battle was the first time a battle between two fleets was waged strictly by aircraft with neither fleet in sight of the other. It was also the first step on the road that would eventually end in Tokyo Bay aboard the USS Missouri.
So, it's raining here like a cow peeing on a flat rock. The warehouse roof has a tendency to leak. One of the guys found a leak near some electrical outlets and this was the solution our crack Maintenance staff came up with: As you can see, the water is coming down the wall, not dripping from the overhead.
