Today my pup turned 16. Ms. Spike is now a cranky, slow moving old lady, but is still hanging in there. I took her for a short ride to a nearby park and honestly I think she would have been happier at home in her bed enjoying the AC.

It's probably not a good sign when your dog is giving you raspberries in a photo.

Hah. It has been a long road.

She still tries to push the cat around, but being half her age and twice her size, the cat pretty much ignores her. Tonight will be a piece of steak to celebrate with her two step-brothers.

I tried an experiment in archery today. Since it was too rainy to shoot outdoors (@50 M) I shot indoors and a 1/4 size target. My accuracy on this, at 17 yards, was just about what it is on a full-size target at 50 M. So I's day it was a pretty good backup plan for times when outdoor practice isn't possible.

On this day in July of 1776, the Second Continental Congress voted to declare independence from Great Britain.
July 4 the formal "The Unanimous Declaration of the Thirteen United States of America" was approved by Congress and the rest as they say is history.

Good purchases this morning: 2 sets of "4 Cups Only" coffee filters, from the only local place I knew that had them(are they going out of style, as with Sunday baseball doubleheaders?), then an Aqua Velva on this, AV's 100th anniversary(though, as I wrote in another post, I'm not sure it's the 100th anniversary of being an aftershave). Might try a walk later if the humidity dies down.

Fellow accountant here...I've lost 3 jobs in my career, so I know what that's like. I hope it works out for you.

Having some trouble sleeping. As I've mentioned, my Mom is facing hip replacement surgery. I know that, despite her age, success rate is high & complication rate is low. But she's 80, has a pacemaker and there are no guarantees in life. So I'm not panicking, but I am feeling stressed.

I've lost 3 as well. Thanks for the support, I hope it does too. If it doesn't I have a lead on another job back in my hometown.

rough ending to my day-I left my wallet at the pharmacy where I had picked up my Mom's medication. Cost me my gym workout, but better to have the wallet back and miss a workout(the staff at the pharmacy found it and held it for me....nice people).

How is my day you ask?
    OUTSTANDING!! I answer!
I just woke up in the greatest country on the face of the earth!
Through a happy accident of birth I am a citizen of the United States of America.
Guardian of democracy, guarantor of freedom.
But, let us not forget on this happy day, that between 1775 and 1783, 50,000 Americans gave up their lives for the cause of Independence.
And in an unbroken line that has continued to this day. The War of 1812, the Mexican-American War, the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon, Grenada, Operation Desert Storm, Somali, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan. Americans giving the last full measure of devotion for Liberty and Freedom.
The motto of the US Army is "This We'll Defend". And they're not talking about oil or Wall St.
    So celebrate on this 4th day of July in the year of our Lord two thousand seventeen and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty first. But also remember;

    That is all. Carry on.
