I had just finished my shave and was cleaning up. As usual, I used my brush to give the razor parts a quick scrub, and then sat the parts on a towel for a minute while I was tending to other matters. When I got back to the razor, I picked up the base portion with the baseplate facing up, and the stem between my fingers pointing downward. As usual, I gave it a couple of shakes to remove the excess water from within. But this time, the "usual" didn't happen. This did. I was more than a little upset. While the 37C may not be my absolute favorite, it doesn't miss by much. It's an excellent shaver, and I really enjoy using it. Frustrated and disappointed, I gathered up the parts and sat them aside thinking I'd have a go at putting it back together later. As it turns out, I had no luck. I just couldn't see the "secret". Try as I might, I just could not get the stem back into the tube. (luckily, nothing was damaged as a result of the come-apart...) So, search engine to the rescue. I typed "disassemble Merkur 37C razor" into DuckDuckGo, and Voila! Well, my 37C is back together now, and ready for the next shave. I hope this may be of help to another brother of the Slant. (or the 34HD, or the Progress) Lesson learned: Don't shake the Slant! Many thanks to Christian Vela, and the fine folks @ YouTube! Happy Shaving everybody!!
Nice recovery! I found the secret to dismantling both a Fat Boy and Merkur Futur from YouTube vids. Who knew there was more than 'Epic Fail' and 'Cute Dog & Cat' videos on YouTube?
I can't help but be amazed that anybody would take the time to make a video about disassembling a double edge razor. (but I'm sure glad they do. sometimes the simplest things stumble me the most...) On the subject of dog and cat videos, I kinda like some of them. I like some of the still pictures too. I still laugh every time I look at this one... Ponies!
There is another vid in English out there, I think on the Merkur website. Lol you really didn't need words on this one. They did a great job. I took my 34 HD apart I while ago to see I my normal cleaning, after every shave wit a splash of isopropyl alcohol was doing its job. And it is. I do not ever anticipate taking any of my adjustable razor apart. Knock on wood. Glade you 'fixed' it.
