Ever wonder why VDH has a badger brush in stock, but doesn't apparently market it directly, and you have to order it from them directly? I think I have found the reason, see here: http://www.shaveshop.com/shaving-brush--country-uncle-badger-full-volume.html This Country Uncle looks very similar to the VDH Badger, and is at a very similar price point. If you peruse the rest of the site, you will see that Country Uncle also sells a Select, Glycerin, and Deluxe shave soap. If you navigate back out to the brushes, page, they are selling the "Country Uncle Boar" which is obviously the same product as the VDH boar. It looks to me that these are simply re-branded VDH.
I have a box on my shelf, and just checked. It's not listed as an ingredient on either the select, or the deluxe. The badger brush does, however, look nearly identical to the pictures I have seen elsewhere of the VDH Badger Brush.
Update: I have found the ingredients of the VDH soaps: Select Shave Soap: Propylene Glycol, Sorbitol, Water, Sodium Stearate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Myristate, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Fragrance, Titanium Dioxide, Triethanolamine. Glycerin Shave Soap: Propylene Glycol, Sorbitol, Water, Sodium Stearate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Myristate, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Glycerin, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Avena Sativa Kernal Extract (and) Phenoxyethanol (Oat Extract), Fragrance, Triethanolamine, FD&C Yellow #5, FD&C Blue #1, D&C Red #33. Deluxe Shave Soap: Propylene Glycol, Sorbitol, Water, Sodium Stearate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Myristate, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Aloe Vera), Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Fragrance, Titanium Dioxide, Triethanolamine, FD&C Yellow #5, FD&C Red #40. No lanolin on them and also contains SLS...well,I have to try them to see how they works but I was to exited about the lanolin on them(as the Country Uncle soaps states) and not too happy about the SLS.
