I wish I would have sent the vintage handles I bought to rodd. I ended up destroying them when I was trying to drill out the old knots.
I'm putting together an Instructable on the topic right now . . . Forstner bits are your friends . . .
Dave, That is beautiful. Rodd's work and the brush handle itself. Gee ER made something beside the razors that were beautiful. I am finding new respect for that company. I am talking with Rodd now about the possibility of having him make a brush, handle and all for me. Need to spend sometime this weekend looking at some of his pix and deciding what type of wood and handle style I might want. Then get the wife's opinion and go for it for Christmas.
now im feeling more liberal about what ER brushes i buy. if the bristles look crappy, ill gladly pay rodd any amount of money to re-bristle them. he does amazing work and im very appreciative of that.
Given the clashing materials, I don't know that it's much better. Don't get me wrong, the craftsmanship looks very good, it's only the material choice I question.
Obviously, you don't care for retro look brush sockets. I think it's cool. In fact, there's a similar one in a nearby antique shop that I just may grab this weekend (if it's still there).
