I have both of these razors and I have found the safety bar to be more aggressive and gives longer lasting shaves than the slant. The slant is smoother but by a large margin. Has anyone noticed this trend?

My Merker 37C slant is the smoothest shaving razor I own. (but also one of the least forgiving...)
I chalk that up to the fact the blade is both bowed, and twisted when loaded.
Therefore, it is extremely rigid and cannot flex or vibrate in the slightest
when it is chopping down the whiskers.
Conversely, other razors which bow or bend the blade only in one plane tend to be less smooth. (but effective)

I guess that's the long way 'round the barn of saying, yes I've noticed.

It's interesting to learn what razors have more or less blade flexion. I'm still kind of new to all of this so this is a good education.

I have both of these ikon razors. I agree with you in that the closed comb is far more aggressive. For me it almost uncomfortable to use.
The slant imo is smoother and I get a bbs shave with it.
