I really like fig newtons, but I don't care for fresh figs at all. I've never quite understood that.:think002:

Your fig tree looks awesome! I myself have never had fresh figs. Dried are nice, but fresh I think would be amazing! I love fresh fruit and berries of almost every kind. You are lucky indeed. I just cant justify buying the fresh ones in the store in the produce section for like 4.00 per 10-12 figs or something ridiculous.

Well that's not so strange really. I mean I don't like eating a bowl of hops and barley. But it's quite tasty once they have been crafted into a fine beer.

They grow here in New York too. I have never grown them, but many friends & neighbors have fig trees in their yards.

Had fresh figs for the first time today. A work colleague has a tree and brought some in to share with me. What a unique treat. Tastes like nothing I've ever had. Jody, how much sun does a fig tree need? I have a shady yard with partial sun. Think I can grow tree?

I really haven't a clue on the requirements. Mine was already here when I bought the place, and it has full sunlight.

This article says: Fig trees like full sunlight and adequate room for growth.
