I called my shower the Flag Day Shower when I reported the details this morning. I did see a flag up over the pond at my Mom's house.
I pledge allegiance to the flag Of the United States of America. And to the Republic for which it stands, One Nation, under God, indivisible, With liberty and justice for all.
The flag flies every day at our house. There is light on her so she also flys at night. I check mornings and evenings to see she is free and flag day is a reminder to check that she is serviceable. Which she sadly is not. This weekend a large Hardwood fire will be built it out chiminea and she will be be retired and a new lady will take her place at the entrance to our home. Really? What's the reason behind flag day? Honouring the flag? Or is there more to it? Is it something like Independence day? We have official flag days, like Kingsday and Liberation day, and the birthdays of the royal family. In practice, the authorities are not so strict. Nobody will be arrested for flagging at a football game, or raising the flag because they turned 50 Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
Interesting, thanks! Our national flag goes back to the early fifteenth century, but only became prominent in the late sixteenth century. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
