I can't recall how long I've had the Pure Badger brush, maybe 15 years. It gets used daily, but with this much of the center gone it now takes forever to load and doesn't lather well.

What is your experience with brush life?

    1) my cat eats it.
    2) my girlfriend decides she needs it more than I do.
    3) the remaining bristle gets caught in my teeth when face painting.
    4) I can see the words Ever Ready in mirror image looking down through the knot.
    5) a golf ball produces a better lather.
    6) I can make just this one last trade for the PERFECT brush.
*Only my girlfriend knows which of these scenarios is true.

I've yet to have a badger knot die on me. I got about 5 years out of a boar before the wooden handle split. Switched to the semogue acrylic handle brushes and haven't had any issues since.

15-20 years of near daily use for a single badger brush is about right.

What are you going to get next?

How much do you like the brush handle? If you really like it, keep it & re-knot. If it’s nothing special, then it’s time to replace.
