I've been lurking for a bit, but I guess it's time to say hello...

I'm a lapsed wet shaver who has recently returned to the fold. Although I remember using DE and SE razors early on, my clearest memories are of the appearance of the Gillette Trac II razor in 1971 when I was a HS Senior/College Freshman. Four years later and Saturday Night Live mocked multi-blade razors in their very first show. Here's a link to the transcript which ended with the tag-line, "The Triple Trac. Because you'll believe anything."

It wasn't long after graduation that I received a Century pure badger shaving brush which I initially paired with an Aramis shaving mug and pucks. Old Spice pucks quickly took their place and so it went for the next decade or so - cartridge razors yes, but with a badger brush! Around this time two calamities struck - SWMBO appeared and my OS pucks disappeared. In a moment of weakness I gave up the fight for bathroom space and sadly hung up my brush.

Fast forward to last year. I'm sitting on the couch and I catch a quirky commercial for the Dollar Shave Club and shortly thereafter I see a print ad for Harry's. My interest was piqued and a little internet surfing led me to several shave shops and forums like this one. Several purchases followed including my Merkur 23C and now I'm afraid I may be coming down with a bad case of AD, especially with soaps. SWMBO is long gone so I'm afraid I only have you kind folks to advise me and help keep my disorder in check.

    Dave

:signs046: to TSD and :signs046: back to "traditional" shaving "Dave"

You'll get all the advice on shaving and all the cheering on you'll need for buying right here. :happy088: Being your age I also remember the debut of the Trac2. Used one for 34 miserable years until I rediscovered "traditional" shaving.. :)
