I purchased this J.A. Henckels Twin Works 410 razor in an antique store some time ago. I started by removing the old scales and cleaning up the blade in my usual way (Steel wool, 800, 1, 1.5, 2k wet/dry and then lots of Mother polish). The blade was in very good condition except for some deep pitting on the toe which I decided to leave. Here is the before pics: Here is the blade all nice and shiny: And here is the razor with new horn scales:
The blade is nice, and it’s a Henckels so it hits high on the things I like, but those scales are great. That is an amazing slab turned into great scales.
Yes, I had a heck of a time getting the bull to hold still while I sawed off one of his horns. It took a while, but it was well worth the effort. Actually, a friend gave me a box of old razors and a few new scales and this was one of the finds.
