JB Pure Performance Shave Brush. This has got to be the least talked about and underated brush out there, I tested out the Brush, and it is not a real Badger Brush, it certainly could fool you. The brush is awesome retains some stiffness not like a pure boar brush, like my omega's and does not flop out like other badgers brushes...This brush is at the top of the rotation.
Considering the base of the bristles are white I would have to assume that the brush would be a synthetic that has been half dyed to give the look of a badger/boar brush. I dont like Jack Black products but if the brush is only a few dollars/less than the 10$ of the body shop synthetic I would say its a viable option.
A little quick research... Looks like it's a synthetic brush, proudly claims to be "badger-free" and not a product of animal cruelty. $85.00 MSRP according to this article http://mensgifts.blogspot.com/2008/02/jack-black-performance-shave-brush.html
85$?????$?$?$?$?$????? http://www.getjackblack.com/jb/cata...Y&unid=11CE8E9422D044D386257372005362CC&loc=c Their advertising actually sounds worse than an infomercial. Shaving with a brush is apparently a revolutionary new way to shave though. I would like to vomit on jack black him self and than hit him in the head with a Simpson brush. Preferably one larger than a chubby.
85$???? No way I'd buy that. Not worth more than 20 IMHO. For 80 bucks you can get a very decent silvertipped one....
It's priced reasonably high at $85.00. I was fortunate enough to win this during a Boxing day event, So I got it for free! my point was that it performs fantastic, and even though it feels like a badger brush in your hands!..The price they wan't for it, is very very expensive.. for 85.00 you can get a decent silvertip.
Price may be a bit high for a synthetic brush, but if it works well and you are happy with the results, that makes it worth it. In your case you got both the best price and like the brush as well, win/win situation there! I can't really diss the brush for being expensive, I've been known to spend a bit more on brushes than I should :ashamed001
It might be worth it if the handle were made of an exotic wood or somthing but I agree with Klaus $20 max. Cool that you scored one free.
thats fine send me the Brush.and I will send you the JB, I will let you know if there is a shaving problem!:happy102
I know this thread has been not very active in a while but I have just been reading up on synthetic brushes and have decided to order a Jack Black Pure Performance. Yes, $85- is a lot of money for a shave brush but, IMHO, it is not about "for that amount, you can get a decent silver tip one..." It is about buying a good quality brush, no matter what material it is made of. Synthetic is not just synthetic, there are differences in quality and performance, same as for Badger hair. And it doesn't mean because it is synthetic tht it does not perform as good as a Silver Tip brush. The brush is not much talked about but the few reviews I have managed to find here as well as through other sources was mostly very positive. +1 on that!
