I was on the Cambridge Chemist website and several brushes are listed as John Bull/Simpson/Vulfix. I realize Vulfix bought Simpson but where does John Bull fit in? I was looking at the Major turnback brush I did not see the Simpson logo only John Bull.

I cant speak for now, but John Bull was a branded Simpson brush. Much in the way that Rooney makes the Truefitt and Hill brushes, but you dont see Rooney marked on the T&H brush. I know they have some pretty old stock at cambridge, so they are probably sommerset stock.

    Good Luck :)

Thanks for the info. I travel through NYC often and plan on going to the CC store. Nice to have an idea what I am looking at before I go there. The prices are high on most items but I may buy some stuff anyway.

Cambridge Chemists has a great deal of items. For a bit of a price break while in NYC check out Pasteurs Pharmacy. There are two locations, and one is actually not far from Cambridge Chemists.

Does Pasteurs carry brushes? I ran in to the Pasteurs by Penn Station and bought skin food and shave cream. I did not see brushes on my quick stop. How about COB or MIN ?

i was in pasteur's (34th between madison and park) about 3 weeks ago. they did have a selection of simpson's brushes- all in boxes and numbered, but not open for display- so you really had to know what model # you were interested in, unless you wanted to stand in their narrow aisle, with a salesperson, opening all the boxes to look at them. they do have a great selection of shaving cream/soap though, and various razor blades (feather, shark, iridium, astra, derby); all come with nyc's sales tax (8.5% i think) which probably evens out on shipping charges if you were ordering on the web. fun place to check out.

I did not know the history about the John Bull. Now I know from your post.
