Wasn't planning to stop by a vintage store today, but I saw one I didn't notice before. I saw this little guy in a glass display case and picked it up for $18. Based off the mr-razor website, I'm assuming it's a '46-'47? I've read a few times to avoid any polishing on gold razors. I have some Scrubbing Bubbles, but is that enough to give it a good clean?
Nice find. I'm sure it's a '48 - '50 though....same as mine. The gold plating is all but gone from the doors of mine but it still looks and work great.
Nice find and a great shaver. That should clean up and polish nicely. I've got the '47 model, birth year.
Nice find. For cleaning, why not start with hot water, some dish soap and an old toothbrush? Should clean it up nicely.
Great find. I just got one myself. I used warm water and dish soap. The used scrubbing bubbles. Cleaned up great. My question would be: Can you dip the head in rubbing alcohol after using it before putting it on the rack? I dip all my razors before and after each use. One to kill any bacteria that got on it while sitting out and also because it drys faster. Not sure if it helps or not, I've been doing it ever since I started. But i have grown to enjoy the scent of it first thing in the morning. Haha.
What great looking razors. The Aristocratic is definitely a razor I hope to be lucky enough to own, one day. Let us know how they shave.
