Hi there, just introducing myself here. Just getting into wet shaving and safety razor shaving based on an article on it I saw on thesweethome.com. I've been at it a few weeks and feel like technique-wise, while I still have a long way to go, I know what I'm doing enough to give myself a decent shave.

Started with a RiMei, a blade sampler, and a stick of Arko. I've since added a tube of C.O. Bigelow, a few RazoRock soaps and most recently (today) picked up an old short comb Gillette NEW. Planning to give it a try tomorrow.

Have found tons of great into here already. Thank you!

:signs046: to TSD Chuck F.........I hope you enjoy it here......:)

Don't worry to much about your technique or the learning curve it will come with time...About the best advice I can give you at the start is "Don't Chase the Baby" go for an irritation free DFS rather than a BBS that will come with practice and time....Time, Technique,Practice and Patience will help you achieve the "Best" shaves of your life..It only gets better from the start...;)

You've got a good start up kit,the blade sampler is an especially good idea..The Gillette "NEW" is a good 3 piece razor...I've been using and loving Arko soap lately myself, I use mine mashed into a bowl rather than off the stick however, as I like to bowl lather....If you don't have a brush yet, heres two cheap, but servicable brushes....
    1) the Van der Hagan boar brush it's sold locally by itself and/or with a kit(brush, bowl, soap) both the soap(VDH Delux) and bowl are very nice..
2)Another cheap brush option(the one I use in fact) is a #6 Horse hair brush from bestshave.
You can get the brush for around $5 shipped from bestshave.. Although the QC at bestshave isn't the most stringent,I have several of the #6's and all are quite usable..I've had and used my #6 for two years now.

One bit of warning "traditional" shaving is "VERY" enjoyable and "HIGHLY" addictive....Welcome aboard.....:happy088:
