    Hello, just introducing myself.

    I've been wetshaving for about 3 weeks now - so I think I'm still a newbie. I'm finally getting some things right, and I've noticed a dramatic improvement in my shaves over the last week or so.

    Today I managed to get my first really hot lather going and - oh man - was it ever great! :D

    So..howdy!

    Welcome to TSD.
    What razor, brush, cream or soap are you using? You obviously have something that's working well for you, and the other Newbies (I just quit calling myself one) are always looking at what has worked for others just starting.

    @ChemErik -

    I've got a Merkur 23C right now, but I've got a couple of other vintage razors on the way. I've kinda' lost track as I've been buying a lot of stuff lately (the wife is thrilled) So I'm not 100% sure what. :)

    I know I've got a 59 Gillette red tip on the way and I believe a 58 or 59 Fat Boy.

    Right now I'm using either my Tweezerman brush or a C&E Super Badger (and I just found a C&E BBB - on the way).

    I've been switching back and forth between either Col. Conk's bay rum soap or C.O. Bigelow/Proraso cream (which I'm digging). I just had a tub of TOBS Mr. Taylor delivered today which I'm looking forward to trying.

    I have been using Feathers (didn't know when I ordered 'em they were "ninja sharp") and they've been okay. I just received a blade sampler today too, so I don't know what I'll try next. I've been hearing good things about the Derbys.

    To get the hot lather I've been soaking a large mug in a sink full of hot water while I shower. I fill the mug, dunk the brush, and then put the whole thing in the sink - kind of like a mega-scuttle.

    Today I used a dollop of Proraso and whipped it up with the C&E Super brush. It foamed up really nice and when I slapped the brush across my mug it was just awesome. It's the first time I've had a really nice, hot lather.

    It was cooled off quite a bit by the 3rd pass, but I'm waiting on a Moss Scuttle from Sara which should take care of that problem! :D

    Time to put the credit card away, it's starting to smoke!! :eek: :happy102
