I'm not a collector, but this set looks pretty cool. Seller wants $12.00 for it and from what little research I did that looks really low. The tag said "travel set". I think it's supposed to have a mirror so maybe it being incomplete makes it cheap. I think I'll snag it because of the history involved. What do you guys think?
Yeah, right after I posted, I called the shop and put it on hold. Going to pick it up Friday. The history alone is something. Might even clean it up and shave with it!
I am not a collector either, but for what it is and for $12, I would have picked it up in a heart beat!
$12 is a good price for that razor without the case forget about with. The razor and in turn set assuming the whole set wasn't pieced together afterwards dates to 1918. All the pieces are correct for that particular set which would have been for retail as far as I can tell. If it was for the military the case would have said property of US Army for example if it was a military Khaki set and the razor's serial code would have started with a J instead of an E with the numbers being the same otherwise.
Go for it! That's cheap at half the price there was one in a so-called "Thrift Store" they wanted $20 just for the Razor without the case,
