I was cleaning up my Eversharp "Krona", Quotations because it was never named Krona but just a Double Edge Razor. Anyways I was cleaning 'er up and I noticed a line on the hinge side of one of the doors, so I looked at the opposite door and it had a 2 so obviously the line was a 1. Well, curiosity got the best of me so I opened up the head on my Schick Krona and it had a C on one and an R on the other. More mysterious coding? Or perhaps a secret dating code. Perhaps we will never know.
As far as I know the elusive Schick 'razor codes' have never really been decoded. There was some perceived logic in the numbers on the razors and blades up to the 1960's - but after that it got even foggier. A number of people believe that the letter represents the manufacturing plant and the number is anyone's guess. For dating, you can try this site http://www.safetyrazors.net/schick/schicktech.htm
Only after rubbing his nose in all of your collection's Krona glory! You have a dang sweet collection, too! (greener with more razor envy)
This really is a diamond in the rough. You will find out real quick what blades do and do not work. It is funny because everyone says how mild it is but when I use smoother blades , oh baby it's smooth! A wet shaving paradox, or maybe it is just called mild because how smooth it shaves. Efficient and smooth. The best of both worlds. I just think most people overlook this particular razor because it is Schick and they are mostly known for the Injector and it has a plastic handle.
I will going forward add "Schick Krona" to my ebay stalk-list and inspect every single one that comes up for a darn eagle.
But of Course! Thanks! You can blame @GDCarrington for my collection though. His SOTD pictured caused me to buy them all. Now that I have his attention. What model is that Rubberset GD? Get the gold one too, it's pretty sweet
Astra SP (my favorite blade) works great in this razor but nothing after 3 shaves lol its the weirdest thing after you said a diamond in the rough. My Barberpole and Futur can get 5 or 6 shaves out of a Astra SP. I believe its cause of the smoothness to the shave it gives like you said. But i need to try a few other blades to see what else works.
