During the last few days I have done some wrong. I have become a monster and let my ADs control me between rounds at work. I have 6 razors, 4packs of blades, 2 brushes, a strop kit, and a soap sample. Since I bought them and spent the $200 I suppose I should show everyone what I got. I haven't gotten the first item in yet so these are all pictures off eBay, amazon and the various other sellers I have browsed this week.
That is: a Rolls Razor with instructions and an extra blade 2 straights for me to try to restore one of them is a wosty a Stahly with a nonworking handle a type B and type C Schick a pack of each new production injector blades a poorman's strop kit from whipped dog an assembled 20mm brush from whipped dog. Pictures are of the parts. 2 se sampler packs of blades from tryablade a sample wedge of mitchells wool fat shaving soap and a razorock plissoft brush. I may have more but that's what I remember. I really cant afford to get anything else so I'm done for the month maybe for October too. This is the 2nd mass purchasing I've done since I've been here at the shave den.
It makes me feel a little better knowing that I have spent less then $500 on all my shaving stuff put together. Only little because I haven't been wetshaving for much more then 2 months.
If that was the Stahly that was on eBay the other day for $17-18, I almost grabbed it. I didn't because I'm trying to watch my spending, and because it looked like it had plate loss on the underside of the head. It bugs me when one of my razors has plate loss. Heck of a good deal for a Stahly head, no matter the condition, though.
That's how much it was. The handle had been stripped so its hollow. I don't care as much about plate loss. As long as it shaves I'm happy with it.
Looks like you did well for the money spent. Don't think of it as an addiction, think of it as a life style. I have two Stahly's and the handle doesn't work on either one, but the shave heads work GREAT! That said once you find a 3 piece handle you like and hook that Stahly head up to it, I predict your going to love the shave. If you wind up disliking the shave a Stahly shave head is pretty easy to sell and the handles make ok paper weights.
It's the curse of having an 8 hour overnight job that only has 2.5 hours of work to do. I get bored and I look on ebay. "Oh look that's a great price lets get it, oh crap could I afford that? Too late now."
I may end up getting a long thin handle and gifting the stahly to my fiance along with the razorock brush that I really did get for her. She's using my superspeed now and sometimes grabbing the Fatboy because she doesn't pay attention to which RAZOR she gets. I need to convince her to try a 3 piece since they are less breakable then TTO and shes a Butterfinger.
