When I saw this product newly advertised by Leon at www.vintagescent.com, I knew I had to try it. I was very intrigued by the description and a huge fan of lavender. Unfortunately for me, many lavender products do not agree with my skin. This however was quite different. When you smell it out of the tube, it is a pleasant lavender scent and not artificial at all. So far so good! I put an almond size squeeze into my scuttle and go to town. Almost the immediate release of the menthol blast coming out of the scuttle The interesting and intriguing blend of lavender and menthol which I have yet to experience quickly takes over my bathroom and nose. This stuff lathers exactly how I like a cream to lather. I dont care for a bowl full of lather, I want thick, slick, and gleaming lather. This lathers along the lines of say proraso, musgo, or La toja. My scuttle is never a friend to lather because I use very hot water that dissipates most but not this stuff. Lathered great and held its own with plenty of lather for 4 passes. And on to the shave. As Leon mentioned to me. This stuff is very similiar in ingredients as its other Portugal friend Musgo Real with the coconut oil and lanolin. I used a Dorco 301 in a Fatboy. Not my favorite but a good median. Absolute shaving bliss! You lather your face and you get this blast of a heavenly lavender/light menthol blend. Very nice glide and never dried out as some menthol creams sometimes do. My 3rd pass where I usually find out how sensitive my skin is to it......not a burn at all. Final CWR....nice calm light menthol follow up. I would say a 1/4 of say proraso. Walk around a bit a 0 dryness so the moisturizing abilities of this cream are fantastic. I did proceed to hit it with Leon's 444 ASB mixed with Clubman for a heavely experience afterwards though. Overall....Phenomenal stuff! Menthol is an ingredient at the bottom of the list so it wont give you that super cooling effect but still adds to the lavender scent quite well. I will definetely be back for more. The price with a tube of 444 balm was $17.00 shipped from Portugal which arrived in exactly 7 days! A steal in my opinion. I am a very tough critic when it comes to shave soaps and creams and rarely give anything such rave reviews. If you like lavender and menthol.....pull the trigger and order this stuff. Trust me...you will not be dissapointed! Here is was the website says about this fine stuff Lavanda Shaving Cream This is a shaving cream produced by the portuguese brand "Ach. Brito" (Claus Porto), the same brand that makes the famous Musgo Real. This shaving cream, just like Musgo Real, contains lanolin and coconut oil providing a great shaving experience. The ingredients of this wonderful shaving cream are: Qater, Potassium Stearate, Sodium Palmitate, Glycerin, Coconut Acid, Parfum, Potassium Silicate, Coconut Oil, Lanolin, Witch-Hazel (Hamamelis Virginiana), Buxus Chinensis, Alcohol and Menthol. :happy108
This sounds like another cream to try for me. Believe me or not, the Musgo Real cream also contains menthol, although it's just in a trace amount.
Shawn was kind enough to send me a sample of Lavenda cream. Since I have yet to find a cream or soap that doesn't do exactly what it's supposed to do, this was no exception. For me, it's all about the scent. When I first opened the sample, it smelled terrific. However, when lathered, it smelled a bit too "medicinal" for my taste. I have too many others that smell, to me, much better. I guess I'll stick with those. I appreciate the sample though, Shawn! Thanks again. Jeff, if you want to try it, pm your address and the rest is yours. Probably 2-3 shaves worth.
