Let’s play a guessing game

A few weeks/a month ago my mother gave me some clues as to one of my birthday gifts. The only clues she gave was that it is British, Gillette, comes with the case and cost a pretty penny on eBay. Of course I thanked her dearly and told her I loved her, but I thought it might be fun for my fellow TSD members to guess what will be my birthday gift razor. Just for fun of course. I personally do not know what she got; I won’t know until my birthday December 2nd. I’ll post photos here the mystery razor she got me on my birthday.

It depends greatly on what she considers "a pretty penny".

That said, my guess is

She said the razor in question was won on an auction for over $100.

 

That would eliminate a lot of choices, but viable my guess remains.

I’m hoping it’s one of the British Aristocrats as well. I’m just happy she got me such a thoughtful gift for my birthday regardless of what she got. I already have a Number 58 and I agree the British Aristocrats are the cream of the crop. If it is a number 58 I’ll keep it as a showcase piece; or use as a backup for my current 58.

 

You can fit a lot of razors in THAT box.

 

I just got an additional 2 clues about my birthday razor. First it was made in the 1950’s according to the seller; and second it has a lot of heft to it.

Just got my birthday gift a day early from my lovely mother. She got me a vintage Gillette Model no66 made in England.
