I started a Wet Shaving thread on another forum I frequent (not about wet shaving) and StraightRazorDandy suggested I visit TSD. Been reading here awhile and recently decided to participate. Hello! Spent my entire life getting lousy shaves. Hell, I even went to a barber once for the “real deal” and got a lousy shave! My wife has bought me many a shave cream (most recently Cremo) to help with my sensitive skins and inability to get a close shave. Well, those days are GONE! I’m DE’ing it with a Merkur 34c, a super badger brush and some pretty nice “software” and getting good shaves on the daily. Some better than others, as I learn technique, etc. Very happy with my new obsession and very happy to be here at TSD! Thanks to all for your invaluable contributions and wonderful camaraderie. Let the shaving continue!

First off, welcome. 2nd, I would venture to guess you have "sensitized" skin and not actual sensitive skin, but that's another topic for another day. You should head on over to the 30 day crew thread. Great guys over there and can really help with technique, and that will give you good shaves with any equipment that you use. Also, have you considered using an SE razor? For most newbies, they are a bit easier to find the right angle, plus you get a better shave anyway! If you havent, I'd be happy to send you one or invite you to the SE forum as well.
Welcome to The Shave Den! I'm glad you're here with us. I second the motion to jump into the 30 Day Rule/Focus thread. Several of us are there working on our technique and having fun. Using the same set up for 30 days is helpful in learning how to get consistently great shaves. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The party never stops, so you can join anytime. We're even teaching @Primotenore how to use a straight razor. As a result, we expect his shave den to expand significantly over the next 12 to 24 months.
Thanks for the fine welcome. When you say SE, you mean single edge, right, and not straight edge? Definitely curious, and appreciate your generous offer. But since my Sample Blade pack, has about 106 DE blades left in it (although I fear most are poor) I feel compelled to master the DE. I could trade you some Ach Brito Lime Glyce for the SE. I bought a couple bars only to find I’m allergic. Or at least my burning skin suggests I am. To the 30 day thread I go.
