I've probably tried two to three dozen different shave soaps, and I rarely have trouble building lather. This soap is one of those few exceptions. I tried this soap a couple different times. On both occasions, I would apply and work the lather on one side of my face, then move to the other. By the time I finished the second side of my face, the lather on the first side had started to evaporate and disappear. The lather itself was very "foamy", but not creamy. It didn't last 15 seconds. The Lightfoot's is down at the bottom of the barrel along with Caswell Massey and Vermont Country Store brand.

The scent of this soap is great. Nice and piney. I gave the soap a score of "5" for moisture, lubrication, and protection, but I couldn't shave with the soap so I don't know about any of those. I'm going to use this soap in the shower, then buy a proper bath bar from them. I'm so disappointed. :(

    Not the worst, but...

Not the worst soap I've ever tried (Mountain Country Store, Natural Selections, Burt's Bees), but certainly not worth using. The way I see it, if I can help one person NOT sacrifice an otherwise wonderful shaving day by using these soaps, I've performed my duty as a forum member!

The lubrication was actually not bad and, yes, the scent is piney. The lather deteriorates pretty quickly and doesn't offer much protection. A bit drying.
