Update OP - Littlestown, PA - Ma's General Store Anyone been there? My parents had stopped in there the other day, and noticed a whole section of "shaving stuff" I might be interested in checking out. I'm sure it's not modern type canned goo/multi-bladed systems stuff because I've been talking to them about using DEs and brushes, creams & soaps, etc.... In fact, a few weeks ago they gave me my great-grandfather's circa 1920 shave mug. Anyways, I'm thinking of heading over there within the next few days. I'll report back if I find anything.... UPDATE 11/12: Well, I made the 2 hour round trip drive over there... Not necessarily a waste, but not what I had hoped. There were a mix of new and old items. NEW: Williams Mug Soap; a gift set containing a ceramic coated metal mug (slightly larger than a coffee mug) with matching lid, a homemade(?) type of shave soap and a small synthetic brush for $15; an array of Grandpa's brand bath soaps, and individual sizes of the shave soap found in the gift set. OLD: about 5 or 6 old brushes pretty small in size and well used; two racks of 10 packs of old blades and darned if I can't remember their name - a red box and it began with a "B" $9 each rack; a plastic bin of WEN blades, about 10-15 packs "Sharp because they're thin" ".004 Swedish Steel" $6, and two packages of Made in England Black Label Wilkinson Swords $1 each. I almost picked up the Wilkinson and WEN blades just for the heck of it, but I don't have even the small amount of $$ for collectibles right now. The lady said they occasionally get in actual razors, but didn't have any right now....
Looking forward to your report. I grew up in McVeytown (Mifflin County) until the 5th grade, then moved to State College.
Dang, moved to college in the 5th grade?? rolleyes: Ah, well, that was bad....I'm not too far from State College, down near York. Moved up from Maryland.
That's right! State College Area High School - what a name :happy102 Now, I happily live in NC, but I fondly return to PA from time to time.
Oh, I thought I was the only one who knew what Scrapple, Birch Beer, Lulu Paste, and potholes were. Not to mention pronounce words like Shenandoah and Susquehanna :happy102 Better then Bald Eagle Area...
Since I actually DO live nearby... Yep--in a neighboring county! It's true. From where I live: If you find yourself heading (East) directly for Intercourse and you stop short, let's say at Bird-In-Hand...you might as well continue (Northeast) straight to Blue Ball! Go ahead and Mapquest it! --Morrie
Thanks, Will! Best of luck in your journey and the Posse! If you do your research (fun in and of itself), then practice lots (ditto), you will make the proper handgun selection--I am quite sure. Sounds like shaving to me! Anyway, please keep us "posted" on your new developments. Best ever, --Morrie
Sorry! The synapses get to firing and I just reply to the previous poster. Even if it is myself! I will make an effort to cut down.
