This does cause me to bleed a bit more than normal. Anybody else have this issue and does it cause you to do anything different while using the SR? Super glue, neck tourniquet, duck tape? Just be that much more careful
My dad is in his mid 70's and is on blood thinners. He keeps a styptic pencil handy. If he nicks himself, the bleeding takes a while to stop and the styptic pencil really helps with it.
I take a LD every day. I have on a couple of occasions sliced myself with the SR and just dab on the styptic stick to help stop the bleeding. I usually have to do it twice because I am also a bleeder.
I also take a low dose Aspirin. Yes it probably causes bleeders to bleed a bit longer, but I've always been able to get it stop with Alum Block or very occ a stypic pencil. Being on Aspirin is not a reason to avoid Str8 shaves. I'd even say the same for Coumadin. Some people need a lot of blood thinning with Coumadin, Aspirin, and Plavix-those folk probably should avoid a Straight Razor unless they've been using one for a long time and are very experienced.
I do not take LD aspirin, but if you are in fact bleeding from a nick, then it is doing its job well. use the styptic pencils because there magic ingredient can coagulate blood on the surface without relying completely on platelets.
I also take LD aspirin, and find that I REALLY bleed from cuts of any kind! I almost never cut myself shaving - it's usually on my hands when I am doing chores. When I cut myself I use the Proraso gel; I find that it is way more effective than a styptic pencil...
I also take a low dose aspirin every day and I might bleed a little more, but not much. For the enevitable nick or small cut, alum or styptic pencil usually does the trick. Will N.
I take a 325mg aspirin, 75mg plavix and 4g of fish oil. If I nick myself I do bleed some but it hasn't stopped me from using a straight razor. The usual methods of stopping the bleeding still works.
Hummmm, I take two LD aspirins daily .. I don't notice a difference when I have a weeper or nick myself. Of course, I don't feel much cold from mentholated products either.
If the bleeding is not a drastic problem, it seems to me the heart benefits of a LD aspirin far outweigh such minor issues.
