wow! I just found out about this place. My wife has made fun of me for years for my PASSION (she uses the word “obsession”) with razors. I believe in the nostalgia, the feeling of being a man, honing, stroping and shaving with a good ol fashion filly, or Dubl Duck. How neat is it to not be the only one!!!
Welcome. There's a lot of folks here with the same obsession, huh, I mean passion. Sent from my DROID Turbo using Tapatalk
Welcome to TSD @Nachos ! Glad you found us, and even more important - that you brought your experience with you. This gathering of Wet Shavers exists as a gateway to teaching folks how to enjoy their shaves. We may be a little odd, crazy, even obsessed, but we're in it together. This is your own personal thread right here so if you have any questions - ask away! I've got a question for you. Do you have any favorite soaps, brushes, aftershaves, or other shaving related items you'd care to share about? Since you are an experienced straight shaver, strops, stones and hones? Feel free to post photos.
@RyX My current soap choice is Mikes naturals. I’ve got a thing for Kangaroo Leather... it “feels” better. I use a Simpson brush, I think it’s a “chubby” model... but I can’t remember. As far as razors go, I have a few filarmonica’s Two Heljestrands A decent collection of Dubl Ducks (gold edge, wonder edge, etc) Some Geo Wostenholm’s And pretty much whatever I can find at antique shops, that are decent and large enough to warrant time. (IE Solingen steels, of many makes) The only new razors I own were gifts from my wife. Thiers Issard Spartacus (x2) After much experimenting, I prefer my vintage coticule from the La Vienette mine. It provides me with the most consistent and smooth edge.
Welcome. I'm looking forward to seeing you post pics of your razors. Ease over to the Straight Razor section, and see what fellow members of "The Dark Side" are playing with.
